Pop-up Village | Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Iceland

An experiential analog for the interplanetary age
A CO-CREATION CONTAINER FOR DESIGNERS OF THE FUTURE
The Portal at Iceland Eclipse is an analog space mission where artists, astronauts, innovators, and builders come together to rehearse the future of human life, and co-create what will be carried forward as humanity moves beyond Earth.
Through community living, deep collaboration, and worldbuilding, participants co-create installations, rituals, and activations that integrate into the festival, experienced by a global audience.

Artists. Technologists. Scientists. Aliens. Storytellers. Elves. Builders. Visionaries.
Each being who enters The Portal brings curiosity, courage, and skill to explore new ways of living and creating within this reality and future states of consciousness and planes of existence.

Welcome to The Portal. Your entry grants full access to this month-long mission as well as Iceland Eclipse festival entry and group camping. To ensure we remove barriers to entry, we have released international payment plans. We cannot wait to see you at the edge of the world.

Our home base is The Freezer, a community hub in the village of Rif on Iceland's Snæfellsnes Peninsula, where the North Atlantic meets the glacier-crowned volcano Snæfellsjökull.
From here, the landscape becomes a collaborator. This month-long immersion is designed to dissolve the usual constraints so that what emerges is shaped by abundance, imagination, and pure possibility.

We are looking for Patrons who want to build the future by investing in the people shaping it.
We have assembled a remarkable crew of emerging artists, innovators, astronauts, technologists, and builders, to innovate solutions for the future.
Our mission is to uplift these creators by removing their barriers to entry and supporting their project costs.

To prototype a self-sustaining, co-created community that values curiosity, collaboration, and beauty as essential survival tools. Together, we will harness the awe of Iceland’s once-in-a-century total solar eclipse and the surrounding volcanic landscape to spark innovative co-creation. Inside The Portal at Iceland Eclipse, we will gather a curated constellation of artists, technologists, scientists, and cultural catalysts united by a shared purpose: to prototype a future rooted in harmony with place, planet, and possibility.

We will design projects, experiences, and prototypes that bridge cosmic inspiration with earthly sustainability. Emerging from a direct relationship with land, sea, and sky – and past, present, and future – our work will come to life during the festival under the total solar eclipse, then continue to ripple outward as a model for future living on Earth and beyond.
This is for Explorers. Rather than follow a fixed schedule, The Portal at Iceland Eclipse is an open framework designed to spark organic magic and experimentation. Alongside shared workshops, gatherings, and co-creation sessions, there is space for self-directed exploration and rest.
We will host skill-shares, roundtable conversations, and communal dinners, but much of the experience will unfold naturally based on the curiosities of the Seekers present. One afternoon might bring sunset yoga on a black sand beach or a late-night music jam; another day, an impromptu hike to a nearby volcano; and yet another, discussions on speculative futures and alternative energy resources.
You are invited to shape your own rhythm, balancing solitude and community, stillness and play, structure and spontaneity. The Portal provides the container. You bring it to life.

Workshops & Exchange
Step into a flow of guest-led and resident-driven sessions that weave together art, science, design, sustainability, and innovation. Evening salons and co-creation labs become fertile ground for new ideas and unlikely partnerships. Here, insight emerges through dialogue, play, and shared curiosity.
Co-Creation & Projects
Join a cross-disciplinary crew to merge art, science, and technology into forms that surprise even their makers. Small co-creation teams will gather around shared curiosities to prototype installations, performances, and experiments that will come alive beneath the total solar eclipse at Iceland Eclipse 2026.

Plan & Create
Bring your ideas into form through hands-on experimentation, design sprints, and open studio time. Makerspaces and shared tools will support your process as you prototype, test, and refine. Work with the Iceland Eclipse 2026 production team to shape your vision into an experience that comes alive during the festival.

Creative Hub
Our home base in Hellissandur offers access to shared studios, co-working areas, shared tools, a fabrication lab, and a landscape of infinite inspiration. Our central hub will host scheduled gatherings, spontaneous sessions, and moments of organic co-creation. It is both a meeting point and a playground for our creative community.

Wellness Practices
Begin your mornings with optional breathwork, meditation, yoga, or mindful movement sessions led by residents and visiting guides. These daily rituals of grounding balance the intensity of creation with care for body and mind.

Lead & Explore
Offer or join outdoor experiences that awaken connection and creativity. You might guide a midnight-sun hike, host a nature-inspired workshop, or simply share time in Iceland’s wild places to spark collective inspiration.
We've channeled our collective energy into three core creative builds - installations, activations, and studios that will live at the The Portal and premiere at Iceland Eclipse for an audience of 5.000 Eclipse Seekers and a global digital audience reaching into the millions.
an immersive audio-visual experience space
SOMA
Translates the voices of space and Earth into form, an early alphabet of spectrograms and beaded patterns for the signals we transmit.
The Portal Within
An interactive cartography of consciousness, turning real-time traces of inner experience into a shared map that trains us to navigate our minds beyond Earth.
The Many-Handed VJ
A live visual instrument that lets sound shape light in real time, while many hands gently steer its patterns into a shared, moving picture of the moment.
Early prototype of the emotional gravity we will need, a soft space for healing arts and reflection, for weary travelers when Earth feels far away.
Puppetopia
An open-source creative space for families, that bridges dimensional perspectives, community, and the selves we may one day carry off-planet.
participatory games, social experiments, and connection events
Games for Gathering
A festival-wide participatory game with badges and initiation rituals. Small materials budget for game pieces.
The Lie Book
A roaming journal of invited lies that opens a curious edge-space where we explore how truth, fiction, and identity mingle in real relationships.

At the edge of the world, where the North Atlantic meets the glacier-crowned volcano Snæfellsjökull, lies the town of Rif. This is the picturesque Icelandic village that we will call home during our time together. Nestled within the Snæfellsnes peninsula, known as “Iceland in Miniature,” you will be transformed by this ever-evolving, awe-inspiring landscape.

Venture beyond our pop-up village to explore the wild landscapes of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, a place that feels both ancient and otherworldly. These journeys offer space for renewal and inspiration. Enjoy co-created nature immersions, soak in geothermal pools, trace the paths of ancient lava, hike across glacier light, and let Iceland’s elements recalibrate your senses. Each encounter with the land is a reminder of why we explore and what it means to belong to Earth and Cosmos. Participants are encouraged to self-organize outings to experience the region’s natural wonders firsthand.
