YOUR INVITATION

YOUR INVITATION

YOUR INVITATION

Welcome, Seeker. You’ve been selected to enter The Portal. This is not a simulation. This is not a drill. This is a practice run for the future.

Part innovation residency, part immersive retreat, The Portal at Iceland Eclipse is a month-long experiment in how we might live, create, and collaborate as a global community on this planet and beyond.

As part of a cross-disciplinary crew of astronauts, innovators, artists, and local cultural leaders, you will settle into Iceland’s stunning Snæfellsnes Peninsula to experiment, explore, develop projects, and share knowledge.

Each day invites conscious examination, hands-on innovation workshops, daily wellness practices, adventurous and restorative encounters with nature, and space to tap into the indigenous wisdom and living stories of this land. Together, we will prototype new frameworks for decentralized community co-creation and ensure that art, music, culture, and imagination remain at the heart of our shared future realities.

As the total solar eclipse passes overhead on 12 August 2026, the ideas and projects born within The Portal will come to life during Iceland Eclipse, where art, music, technology, and discovery converge.

MISSION AND VISION

MISSION AND VISION

MISSION

MISSION

MISSION

To prototype a self-sustaining, co-created community that values curiosity, collaboration, and beauty as essential survival tools. Together, we will harness the awe of Iceland’s once-in-a-century total solar eclipse and the surrounding volcanic landscape to spark innovative co-creation. Inside The Portal at Iceland Eclipse, we will gather a curated constellation of artists, technologists, scientists, and cultural catalysts united by a shared purpose: to prototype a future rooted in harmony with place, planet, and possibility.

VISION

VISION

VISION

We will design projects, experiences, and prototypes that bridge cosmic inspiration with earthly sustainability. Emerging from a direct relationship with land, sea, and sky – and past, present, and future – our work will come to life during the festival under the total solar eclipse, then continue to ripple outward as a model for future living on Earth and beyond.

Design Your Own Mission:

Design Your Own Mission:

This is for Explorers. Rather than follow a fixed schedule, The Portal at Iceland Eclipse is an open framework designed to spark organic magic and experimentation. Alongside shared workshops, gatherings, and co-creation sessions, there is space for self-directed exploration and rest.

We will host skill-shares, roundtable conversations, and communal dinners, but much of the experience will unfold naturally based on the curiosities of the Seekers present. One afternoon might bring sunset yoga on a black sand beach or a late-night music jam; another day, an impromptu hike to a nearby volcano; and yet another, discussions on speculative futures and alternative energy resources.

You are invited to shape your own rhythm, balancing solitude and community, stillness and play, structure and spontaneity. The Portal provides the container. You bring it to life.

Design Your Own Mission:

Workshops & Exchange

Step into a flow of guest-led and resident-driven sessions that weave together art, science, design, sustainability, and innovation. Evening salons and co-creation labs become fertile ground for new ideas and unlikely partnerships. Here, insight emerges through dialogue, play, and shared curiosity.

Co-Creation & Projects

Join a cross-disciplinary crew to merge art, science, and technology into forms that surprise even their makers. Small co-creation teams will gather around shared curiosities to prototype installations, performances, and experiments that will come alive beneath the total solar eclipse at Iceland Eclipse 2026.

Plan & Create

Bring your ideas into form through hands-on experimentation, design sprints, and open studio time. Makerspaces and shared tools will support your process as you prototype, test, and refine. Work with the Iceland Eclipse 2026 production team to shape your vision into an experience that comes alive during the festival.

Creative Hub

Our home base in Hellissandur offers access to shared studios, co-working areas, shared tools, a fabrication lab, and a landscape of infinite inspiration. Our central hub will host scheduled gatherings, spontaneous sessions, and moments of organic co-creation. It is both a meeting point and a playground for our creative community.

Wellness Practices

Begin your mornings with optional breathwork, meditation, yoga, or mindful movement sessions led by residents and visiting guides. These daily rituals of grounding balance the intensity of creation with care for body and mind.

Lead & Explore

Offer or join outdoor experiences that awaken connection and creativity. You might guide a midnight-sun hike, host a nature-inspired workshop, or simply share time in Iceland’s wild places to spark collective inspiration.

Where Imagination Sparks Collective Creation

Where Imagination Sparks Collective Creation

There are no spectators here. At The Portal, we are all crew. This is our co-creation container. Each Seeker who joins becomes an active designer of the experience. Together, participants will imagine, prototype, build, and bring to life projects that premiere during the Iceland Eclipse festival.

How Co-Creation Works

Early in the program, the entire crew will gather in facilitated roundtables, creative labs, and brainstorming sessions to surface ideas, explore shared interests, and identify opportunities for collaboration.

From there:

  • Ideas take shape: Participants propose concepts, themes, needs, and curiosities.

  • Teams self-organize: People gravitate toward projects that inspire them. No assignments, no gatekeeping.

  • We build together: Groups design, prototype, test, revise, and produce throughout the month.

  • Projects come alive at the festival: Creations are shared with thousands during Iceland Eclipse, publicly and collectively.

You’re welcome to focus deeply on one project or float between multiple initiatives as energy, talent, and timing align. The Portal encourages evolution, cross-pollination, and collaboration across disciplines.

A Multidisciplinary Ecosystem

A Multidisciplinary Ecosystem

A Multidisciplinary Ecosystem

In The Portal, expertise is never siloed, but shared.

  • A scientist may co-create a sound installation with an artist, using planetary data.

  • A filmmaker may collaborate with a somatic practitioner to design an embodied storytelling ritual.

  • A software engineer may join an art collective to prototype responsive environments.

  • A musician may help craft the emotional arc of a climate-themed immersive experience.

This is a space where curiosity outranks specialization and the best ideas come from unexpected combinations of people. Projects are limited only by the imagination, skills, and willingness of the community to dream and build together.

Most importantly, this is where we’ll stand together beneath the total solar eclipse for over two minutes. This offers us a rare and transformative moment to pause, reflect, and feel our place in time and space. The eclipse invites us to consider where we’ve been, where we’re going, and how we wish to move into the future.

In this land, the isolation becomes the inspiration.
