The last total solar eclipse in Iceland was 1954 and the next won’t occur until 2196. Plus, the timing of the 2026 eclipse aligns with the peak of the Perseids meteor shower, bringing eclipse chasers a chance to see shooting stars during totality.

History

Iceland Eclipse honors a rich tradition of global gatherings that celebrate rare celestial alignments and mark a shared moment of wonder for humankind. Inspired by the full moon parties on the beaches of Thailand and Goa, small parties in the 1990's turned into festivals in the 2000's. Iceland begins a new series, rooted in the wonder of now and fostering collaboration toward a better future.
